Introduction Of Logitech MX Master 3
The Logitech MX Master 3 is the newest addition to the MX Master series by Logitech, and its updated design makes it a great choice if you’re looking for a mouse to help you be more productive.
This mouse has a comfortable and ergonomic design, and it comes with special features that can be customized to work with specific software. It also has a new magnetic scroll wheel and a longer-lasting battery. However, it is a bit expensive compared to other productivity mice. This might be a concern, especially for professionals who use specialized programs like MS Word, Photo editor, or Filmora for most of their work.
The MX Master 3 offers many customizable options, and even if you’re only interested in a few of them, it’s still worth considering.

Design

The Logitech MX Master 3 is a comfortable, right-handed mouse with a practical design that fits your hand naturally. It has textured surfaces on the thumb rest and palm area to prevent slipping.
This mouse has seven buttons. On the top, there is a clickable scroll wheel and a button to adjust the scrolling speed. On the side, there is a thumb scroll wheel and two customizable buttons. Pressing down on the thumb pad gives you an extra button.
There is a USB-C charging port at the front of the mouse. On the bottom, there is a button to manually switch between three different device profiles. The scroll wheel on the MX Master 3 is Logitech’s latest development, allowing you to switch between “ratchet” or “smooth” scrolling.
You can connect the MX Master 3 to up to three different devices. There is a button on the bottom of the mouse that makes it easy to switch between profiles and know which device is currently in use. If you install the Logitech Options software on each computer, you can switch between devices easily.
Unlike previous Logitech mice, this one does not have a built-in storage space for the USB dongle. This means there is a higher chance of losing the small adapter. The MX Master 3 is available in graphite and grey color options.
Features

The MX Master 3 mouse is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. It offers a wide range of customization options for almost every feature. One useful feature is the horizontal scrolling function of the thumb scroll button, which is particularly handy for programs like Excel and Final Cut Pro. The two buttons near the thumb can be customized to act as copy and paste buttons. Moreover, the mouse has predefined functions for popular applications such as Microsoft Word, Photoshop, and Chrome, which can be quite helpful.
For instance, in Chrome, the thumb scroll button allows you to switch between open tabs and even open a new tab by clicking the scroll button. In Photoshop, the thumb scroll can be used to resize the paintbrush. The mouse automatically adapts its shortcut buttons based on the software you are using. While setting up the Logitech software for multiple applications may require referring to the instructional diagram a few times, overall, these functions are intuitive and easy to learn.

The MX Master 3 boasts an extended battery life of up to 70 days. Although I haven’t personally verified this, I haven’t needed to charge it during the past week of testing, and the battery life hasn’t diminished. In case the battery runs out during a workday, just one minute of charging provides three hours of use. A full charge takes a few hours.
You can also adjust the pointer speed and vertical scroll wheel, and switch between the “ratchet” (resistant) scroll and “smooth” scroll options. The vertical scroll wheel is capable of scrolling through 1,000 lines per second, as advertised.
The mouse can be connected via Bluetooth or a USB dongle. If your Bluetooth connection is unreliable, the USB wireless connectivity option works well, despite encountering an initial error message. The USB dongle is small, so it’s important to take care not to misplace it.
Performance

The Logitech MX Master 3 is a very comfortable mouse to use for long periods of time because of its curved shape, thumb nook, and precise cursor. After using this mouse, it felt a bit strange to go back to a flat one. The thumb scroll is a convenient feature, especially for navigating between tabs in Chrome, although it can be accidentally triggered at times. Fortunately, you can turn it off if it gets in your way.
Installing the Logitech Options software was a bit tricky because it wasn’t immediately clear which version to choose based on your computer’s operating system. However, once you know what to look for, it shouldn’t be a problem.
One great thing about this mouse is that you don’t need to download the Options software to use its basic functions. Setting up the device is straightforward. If you want to customize the MX Master 3’s features, the software is easy to use and understand.

When using the Logitech Options software to manage multiple devices, the cursor sometimes switches between computers when you reach the edge of the screen, which can be frustrating. There is also a slight half-second delay when switching between devices, so if you rely on quick actions and clicks, this is something to consider.
The MX Master 3 works smoothly on various surfaces. I tested it on a wooden table with slight ridges, a tiled table, and even a sofa and rug, and it was accurate and precise in each case. You don’t need a mouse pad or a glossy magazine for the mouse to work properly.
Versatility Beyond Gaming:
Although the Logitech MX Master 3 may not be specifically designed for gaming, its versatility makes it an excellent choice for gamers who also use their computers for productivity tasks. The ability to seamlessly switch between different devices, combined with its comfortable design and customization options, makes it an ideal mouse for both gaming and everyday use.
Pricing:
The Logitech MX Master 3 is considered a premium mouse, offering advanced features and cutting-edge technology. As with any high-quality product, the price reflects the craftsmanship and capabilities of the device. The current retail price of the Logitech MX Master 3 ranges from $99 to $130, depending on the region and any ongoing promotions or discounts.
While the price may be higher than some entry-level mice, it’s important to consider the MX Master 3’s extensive features, build quality, and overall user experience. If you rely heavily on your mouse for productivity and comfort, investing in a device like the MX Master 3 can significantly enhance your workflow and contribute to long-term satisfaction.
Conclusion
When you factor in speed, accuracy, product design, customizable setting, and the other features discussed in this Logitech MX Master 3 review, this productivity mouse is a top choice. Professionals who spend the majority of their workdays on specialized software — coders, graphic designers, film editors, etc. — will likely benefit the most from these features. However, even just using a few features can be surprisingly helpful, and the MX Master 3’s physical design is more comfortable than other mice I’ve used.
On the other hand, if your primary or only purpose is to utilize the cross-computer control feature, you might be better off with three $20-30 mice instead, given the issues outlined above.
At $100, the MX Master 3 may represent more money than you’re looking to spend on an accessory. But compared to other mice on the market, like the Apple Magic Mouse ($94), I think the MX Master 3’s features and quality make this one worth it.
